“Zf612707.cab” This is the alert that crops up when I try to update Microsoft Windows.

Any kind of advice with this would be wonderful, it is a Lenovo Ideacentre

Hi Sue, welcome to the forum.

Before we get started with the restoration, kindly read through this page entirely.

It is Imperative you should not dismiss any of these stages and carry out all of it in the sequence suggested below.

Make sure that you carry out every part unless given an ok by me personally, even if your symptoms seem to have disappeared. Having no warning signs doesn’t necessarily mean the issue has disappeared.

Please adhere to these directions exactly and don’t attempt to resolve this without my guidance, nor should you install any similar repair applications unless instructed by myself or another administrator in this message board.

1. Please download Reimage from the link below:

-> Reimage Download Link

(Click on the weblink just above and you will then notice a screen appear like the one underneath. Then you can click on ‘Run’ or save it and double click it from your laptop or computer.)

2. Once Reimage has launched it will start a scan . (You will see something very similar to the monitor shot directly below )

3. The moment the diagnostic scan is completed, click on Repair/Fix (The repair can take a little while, just allow it to do it’s thing.)

4. Once the fix is done, restart your machine etc. (See below.)

thanks, ran Reimage and rebooted my system. The leading issues have stopped but I continue to get an random issue with Zf612707.cab?

That’s alright. We will need to use a second application before the repair is completed.

Caution – only run this tool after having conducted a total scan and fix with Reimage above.

1. Please download Driver Detective from the link below and save it to your PC.

Download Driver Detective Link

2. Install and load Driver Detective. It’s going to ask if you want to scan your pc, just click the ‘Scan’ button. Once it is finished, it should display the results of the scan; click ‘Next’ and follow the instructions to finish the restoration. More in depth instructions are found here.

3. When the program has finished, it is best to reboot your pc.

Make sure you report back in this thread with the findings!

Now that your system is fixed, to help you defend your computer in the future I advise that you research these applications:

Microsoft Windows Update
This will ensure your machine always has the latest Windows patches. If there are new upgrades to install, install them straight away, reboot your computer, and revisit the website until there aren’t any more essential updates.

Spyware Doctor – to help stop trojans, spyware and malware from appearing. Install Spyware Doctor.
