“Zlib.dll” This is the alert that comes up the moment I try to upgrade Windows 7.

Any kind of support with this would certainly be appreciated, it is a eMachines

Hi Sue, welcome to the forum.

Just before we start with this restoration, make sure you examine this page entirely.

It’s Really important you don’t ignore some of these steps and complete all of it in the sequence shown below.

Make certain you perform every step unless given the all clear by me personally, even if your problems seem to have ceased. The lack of any errors doesn’t guarantee the error has gone away.

Make sure you follow these guidelines accurately and don’t try to resolve this without my direction, nor should you install any other scanning software except when instructed by me or another admin in this specific discussion board.

1. Download Reimage from the link beneath:

-> Reimage Download

(Click on the hyperlink just above and you should notice a box display like the one beneath. Next either just click ‘Run’ or you can save it and double click it from your laptop or computer.)

2. Once Reimage has opened it will initiate a scan . (You will see something similar to the screen shot below )

3. Once the diagnostic scan is finished, simply click Repair (The restoration can take a short time, just allow it to do it’s job.)

4. When the fix is finished, restart your PC etc. (See underneath.)

thanks, ran Reimage and restarted my system. The main symptoms have gone but I continue to get an random issue with Zlib.dll?

That’s ok. We will need to use a second program prior to the repair is finished.

Word of caution – only run this software after you’ve performed a total diagnostic scan and repair with Reimage just above.

1. Please download Driver Detective from below and save it to your PC.

Download Driver Detective Link

2. Install and run Driver Detective. It will ask if you would like to scan your computer, simply click the ‘Scan’ button. Once it is finished, it should show you the results of the diagnostic scan; click ‘Next’ and follow the on-screen instructions to finish the repair. More descriptive tutorials are available here.

3. As soon as the software program has finished, it’s best to reboot your machine.

Since your computer is fixed, to help you defend your system in the future I advise that you consider these programs:

Microsoft Windows Update
This will guarantee your computer always has the most current security updates. If there are any new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your system, and revisit the website until there are no more vital updates.

Spyware Doctor – to help protect against viruses, spyware and adware from appearing. Install Spyware Doctor.
